It is a fragment of a blue and white stem-cup possibly for wine, of a type used mainly by the Chinese elite and is found in the Fort Canning Park site. It is about 14th century old based on 14th century Chinese traveller Wang Dayuan`s account. This artefact is related to political, economic and cultural aspect. Porcelain was in high demand during the 14th century. It could have been given by Chinese diplomats to the then rulers of Singapore/Temasek, thus ending up in Fort Canning Hill. It could also have been simply a item involved in a trade which happened in Singapore/Temasek. The presence of this stem cup in Singapore also shows that Chinese culture has reached Singapore/Temasek in the 14th century.

This armlet bears the motif of the Hindu kala,a god symbolising time and destruction which figures prominently in pre-Angkor and Angkorian lintels, Javanese and Balinese (Banaspati) art and temple motifs. It is possible these ornaments were worn by a member of the royal family of Singapore/Temasek, who buried them in the face of imminent invasion. It is most probably related to political and cultural aspects. Javanese or Balinese diplomats may have given the a member of the royal family of Singapore/Temasek for diplomatic reasons. It is also of Indian origin, which shows that Indian culture has reached Singapore/Temasek in 14th century.

The Barbarians of the Isles states that Chinese people lived side by side. Chinese people were already on Singapore/Temasek before 1819, with evidence from the text. This is of a cultural aspect, as it shows that Chinese people were on Singapore/Temasek.
